Cooking up new ideas

Plastic is so crucial - in health care, education, and tech for example - so we still need to make things with it. How can we do so with fewer fossil fuels? Covestro is making a new kind of recycled plastic with cooking oils and fats, and it has endless applications.

Very a-peeling!

Orange peel is a common waste product in the global food industry. Designer Alkesh Palmer has made a lampshade made of sewn-together pieces of orange peel. Sweet!

How do you take your coffee?

Blast Studio is dedicated to circularity. They recycle coffee cups to make a strong wood-like material that can be cut, drilled, sanded and varnished. It's already being used to make wall panelling, lampshades and furniture. Love that.

With Father's Day coming up, what better time to watch the father of FixIts, Chris Lefteri, doing a quick FixIts fix? This one is super simple and helps you save on the hassle, time and money of replacing an otherwise perfectly good chair.

See how Chris uses a hairdryer to merge two bits of FixIts? That's a useful tip if you can't pop your FixIts in boiled water.

Check out Ali's boots. The laces were really frayed. Always getting soggy and wet, always flipping this way and that. Really annoying.

Never fear, FixIts is here and works really well on fabric. Give this a watch and then give it a go!

FixIts is so great for outdoor fixes. Take this magnetic plant support. It's actually super easy to make and a really nifty little device for gathering up those plants that have started to do their own thing.

Time to restore a bit of order to the garden? Prop up your peonies and restore your roses with this magical little magnet plant prop.
