Cooking up new ideas

Plastic is so crucial - in health care, education, and tech for example - so we still need to make things with it. How can we do so with fewer fossil fuels? Covestro is making a new kind of recycled plastic with cooking oils and fats, and it has endless applications.

Very a-peeling!

Orange peel is a common waste product in the global food industry. Designer Alkesh Palmer has made a lampshade made of sewn-together pieces of orange peel. Sweet!

How do you take your coffee?

Blast Studio is dedicated to circularity. They recycle coffee cups to make a strong wood-like material that can be cut, drilled, sanded and varnished. It's already being used to make wall panelling, lampshades and furniture. Love that.

It's already February, the year is well and truly underway, huh? Well, we thought, what better time to catch up with some friends and check in on their favourite FixIts fixes.

Have a watch of these vids below for your next fixspiration. They're a little reminder to us that there's such a great joy to be had in fixing things for yourself.

It really is the simple things, isn't it, that make all the difference. Like taking time out to have a cup of tea with people you care about.

Catching up, having a giggle, sharing what's on your mind. You can even have a go at fixing some things together. That's what it's all about.

So, how about it? Pop the kettle on and get your tea fix with a friend or two this week. Human connection is what really fixes things.

Honestly, folks, you inspire us so much.

Check out these awe-inspiring and unique #MyFixIts fixes from our friendly FixIts community. We love them so much and get inspired so much ourselves - so thank you.

And please please please keep sending them in! They make our day.

Be inspired, enjoy.
